Madgaon Express Day 2 Box Office Collection: Kunal Kemmu’s Directorial Debut Earns Over Rs 3 Cr

New Delhi: Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut, ‘Madgaon Express’, initially faced a sluggish start at the box office, amassing Rs 1.63 Cr in collections. However, the film witnessed a remarkable surge on its second day, raking in Rs 3 crores, as reported by Sacknilk. Anticipation is high for further growth over the extended weekend, driven by positive word of mouth.

The film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 17.95% on Saturday, March 23, 2024. While morning shows saw an 8.34% occupancy, the numbers escalated during the evening to reach 20.90%. Night screenings recorded the highest occupancy at 26.62%.

‘Madgaon Express,’ helmed by Kunal Kemmu, narrates the misadventures of three friends on a Goa vacation, which unexpectedly takes a dark turn. Featuring Upendra Limaye and Chhaya Kadam, the comedy-drama has garnered acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Social media platforms are abuzz with positive reviews and recommendations for the film.

ABP Live review of the film reads as, “From the outset, ‘Madgaon Express’ distinguishes itself from films like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. Dodo’s character brings humour and reminds viewers of that one friend who always remains the most excited. The film features a variety of characters, each with their unique traits, such as Mendoza Bhai and Kanchan Comedy. Kunal Khemu’s writing shines, injecting humour into every scene. References to ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ are peppered throughout, highlighting the film’s inspiration. Notably, the bed fight scenes and Kanchan Comedy’s antics stand out as the film’s highlights. Nora Fatehi’s appearance adds glamour, while Remo D’Souza’s cameo fails to leave a significant impact. The film’s music also feels fresh, complementing the narrative.”

Talking about his directorial debut, Kunal Kemmu said, “I didn’t even know this would become a film. This (writing) was just like a practice session for me to see if I can do this. It was a solitary process which I went through, and no one knew that I was writing it.”

Starring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, and Avinash Tiwary in lead roles, “Madgaon Express” marks the first collaboration for the trio. Released on March 22, the film promises an engaging cinematic experience for audiences.
